Beer Budget Bride: Freebies

You say you’re on a shoestring budget? Alrighty, here’s something you don’t have to factor into your budget ‘cause it’s free. Yep. I said it. F-R-E-E.

I stumbled upon this lovely blog (called EverythingEtsy) via Pinterest last night. (If you’re not on Pinterest yet, get moving – it’ll change your whole ‘lil inspiration world!)  It’s a list of “101 Pretty Printables.” The list is quite extensive in style and uses but there are definitely some wedding-worthy pretties that have the potential to spice up your day!

Here’s a peak at some of my favs:

Beer Budget Bride: Tag, You’re It

I haven’t posted a BBB in a while because I just haven’t run across anything cute and inexpensive – call it my good taste if you must! Truth is, if something is going to be in your wedding and be cheap, it should a) be delightful and fresh, b) be executed with exceptional taste, and c) look freakin’ adorable. I’m so shy about giving my opinion, I know.

Anyway, saw this yesterday on Green Wedding Shoes. I heart it.

So, here’s the breakdown of cost:

$6-8 for 12 Mason Jars (you can find them here or here)

$.30 for metal/paper tags (you can find those here)

$15 for Divine Twine (comes in lots of cute colors)

“Stemware”? Check.

Place cards? Check.

Favors? Check.

Genius!

Beer Budget Bride: That’s the Ticket

I have a real treat to share today! My very best friend, Ashley is marrying her “Lovey” (real name: Juan) this summer at an ocean-view resort in Italy. (Go ahead, I can handle your jealousy.) The wedding is in July and so she decided that we should send out “Save the Dates” – a very wise woman.

Since the wedding is abroad, Ashley really wanted to create something that was a nod to travelling. We had such a blast creating these adorable little “luggage tags” to send out. I love them because they are not overly travel-themed but are just enough to provide some intrigue. (They also cost less than $0.75 each!)

To make your very own, you’ll need the following:

DSC_0316

1. An old map (we bought this one)

2. Mini doilies (you can find them in the cake/baking supply section of your local craft store)

3. Luggage/mailing tags (found at an office supply store)

4. Magnets with sticky backing, scissors, glue stick, paper clips, masking tape

5. “Nice” cardstock & matching envelopes (local art store or craft store)

6. Jewel dots (just ‘cause they’re a fun little touch – also from the craft store)

Ok, here’s what you do:

DSC_0317

Start with the info that you want to tell your guests. You need to include your names, the date of the wedding, and any other information that might be helpful in their planning – like a website or event details. Print this info on two separate pages, making sure to keep the info within an approximate 2×2 in. space. Cut those up as shown above.

Cut the doilies in half.

DSC_0319

Glue the doily to the luggage tag.

DSC_0320

Cut up the map into pieces slightly larger than the info pieces.

DSC_0325

Line up the place/info/details card with the map and paper clip it to the luggage tag.

Like so.

Tape the diagonal corners of the names/date card.

Add the magnet to the back of the luggage tag and the jewel to the front.

Perfecto!! (Now you send me pictures of yours – I’d love to see!)

Beer Budget Bride: Love Will Save the Day!

Found these today on decor8 , (a blog full of ideas and items ready and willing to be stolen and purchased, respectively) I just love how they look like vintage-y album covers.

Wouldn’t this make a great Guest Book alternative? Forget those framed pictures where you sign the mat- just get some metallic or white pens and sign the Love Print, stick it in an 8×10 frame, and *poof* – cute!

Beer Budget Bride: Rent a Pic!

A picture is worth a thousand words…so, I’ll only say a few here. Let’s face it, really great photographers are stinkin’ expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand why – one of the main things is that your pictures are really the only thing you get to take with you to remember your perfect day. But, if you’re trying to cut back, don’t you dare even think about those horrible little disposable cameras!! Here’s a great alternative:

Hire a fabulous photographer to capture your Ceremony and your detail shots. You’ll pay them way less because you’re asking them to commit to almost a third of the time.

NOW, for your reception and to capture your guest pictures:  Make your own Photo Booth!

Here’s what you need:

Rent a camera and a tripod

Set up a background. You can rent backdrops, hang a sheet, hang ribbons, hang christmas lights, hang flowers from ribbon, you could even hang cute pictures of the bride and groom - just have something fun for people to stand in front of.

Get a friend to be in charge of the camera and to *focus and *click!

Your guests will have a blast and you’ll save a ton of mulah!

Here are some recent pictures from a photo booth that my darling friends Michelle and Steven did at my best friend Josh’s stylish Birthday Bash! (Beware, craziness ensued!)

The beer budget bride Gives Back

This weekend Atlanta is hosting a groundbreaking event called “40 40 40“. It has been featured on People 2 People ( a segment on Channel 2 News) and has received National notice. Here’s the schtick: 40 hours, 40 weddings, $40 for Bride/$40 for Groom. Voila! The Biggest wed-a-thon in history! If that wasn’t enough, the event is giving its proceeds to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter. I’ve been asked to provide some of the flowers for it and I’ll be posting those pictures next week. Check it out!
